About Us

Microtech was formed in 1974 as an electronic design company, but due to the increasing requests to also manufacture those designed products, by 1988 we had purchased our first Phillips SMT machine and began our manufacturing service.

In 1989, due to the increase in employees and the space required to support the ever growing business, we moved to the premises we are in now and a year later a second SMT machine was purchased.

The business continued to grow and in 2005 there was a MBO (Management Buy Out) by Simon Thomson and Graham Mills.

Something our company is extremely proud of is the presence of long term employees and in 2010 we had our first employee who had been with the company for 30 years, and still is!

After the MBO the company really began to establish itself in the market place and in 2012 we were selected by the CBI (Confederation of British Industry) to represent British manufacture in a Sky Program called ‘Advanced Manufacturing’.

In 2019 Graham Mills retired and Simon Thomson became the sole owner. In 2016 we purchased a further Europlacer IIneo SMT pick and place machine and in 2017 we purchased our 2nd solder paste machine.

Investment in equipment has continued and in 2022 we purchased a new reflow oven, but even more important is that we continue to invest in our people.

Our flexible manufacturing facility located just off the M40 in High Wycombe is set up to meet all your PCB and finished product manufacturing requirements, from hand crafted fast prototypes to volume production.

Microtech is committed to providing more than just manufacturing. We will assist and support you from the first stages of a product’s design, through the prototype stage and into full production. Once in production we can assist with repairs and other support logistics such as holding stock and direct shipping to end users.

Microtech is a 9001:2015 approved facility. All workmanship is carried out to IPC-A-610 or IPC-A-620 standards. We make extensive use of AOI and analyse feedback from the shop floor to ensure that our production continues to be of the very highest quality. We actively work to achieve on going improvements in all areas of the business.
